Nepal sets Oman a target of 264 runs, Nepal under Pressure to Win

Oct 13, Kathmandu - Nepal scored 263 for eight after winning the toss and choosing to bat against hosts Oman in their ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat.

Former captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 61 off 67 balls. Karan KC struck 40 from just 16 deliveries, while Arjun Kumal also made 40, off 59 balls. Ishan Pandey and Basir Ahmed contributed 37 runs each.

Both teams are seeking a second consecutive win in the ongoing tri-series. Nepal beat Canada by 24 runs in their opening match, while Oman defeated Canada by 41 runs.

The match is important for Nepal’s bid to finish in the League 2 top six and retain its ODI status. Nepal sit sixth with 26 points from 33 matches; Oman are fourth with 33 points from 29 matches.

Under ICC rules, the top six teams in the League 2 standings retain ODI status directly. The bottom two must compete in the World Cup Qualifier Play-off for a chance to keep theirs.
