Budhi Gandaki Flood Flow Decreasing, Coastal Residents are Alert

Oct 11, Kathmandu - Flooding in the Budhi Gandaki River has damaged dozens of structures up to Aarughat Rural Municipality in Gorkha, while several people have been reported missing. The river’s flow has eased downstream of Aarughat, including in Bhimsen Thapa, Shahid Lakhan and Gandaki rural municipalities.

Gandaki Rural Municipality Chair Deepak Timilsina said the water level had fallen significantly. Chairs of the three municipalities said no physical or human casualties had been reported in their areas so far.

Authorities have warned riverside communities to remain alert, and local representatives are deployed in their respective areas.

“The river’s flow is gradually weakening, and no damage has been reported here so far,” Timilsina said. He added that residents in all wards had been alerted and that riverside communities were safe.
