Oct 08, Kathmandu - Russian missile and drone attacks killed at least 12 civilians, including three children, and injured more than 40 people across Ukraine, Ukrainian officials said.

The overnight bombardment continued into Wednesday, striking Kyiv and around a dozen other regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the assault as a major attack.

Russian strikes have intensified in recent weeks, targeting energy infrastructure as well as rail and road transport. Zelenskyy said intelligence agencies had warned a day earlier that Russia was preparing a large-scale attack, but the warning did not prevent the casualties and damage.

The attack reportedly coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 74th birthday.
