Oct 06, Kathmandu - The CPN (UML) has clarified the formal role and responsibilities of senior leader Bidya Devi Bhandari within the party.

The inter-party directive issued while making public the decisions of the Central Committee meeting held from Ashwin 5 to 8, states that Bhandari has been placed in the second priority after the chairperson. Bhandari has been given the responsibility of participating in the meetings of the Central Committee, Politburo, Standing Committee and Secretariat and contributing to the party in taking timely decisions by assisting the chairperson. In addition, the responsibility has been assigned to play a role in favor of the party's principles, policies, programs and reputation.

According to the UML, the decision regarding Bhandari's role will be approved by the upcoming statutory general convention. The party has stated that her responsibilities have been determined using the provision to remove obstacles in the statute.
