Sep 29, Kathmandu - The Cabinet has announced six key decisions from its meeting on Tuesday afternoon, government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said.

The Cabinet agreed to accept a US$20.7 million grant from the US government to improve health services.

It also approved the use of national forest land for the Kamala–Dhalkebar–Pathlaiya road section of the East–West Highway, the Garjan Khola Small Hydropower Project, the Balephi Khola Hydroelectric Project, and construction of training-school units and border security posts for the Armed Police Force, Nepal.

The meeting approved submitting three bills to the Federal Parliament: amendments to the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055; legislation to amend and consolidate laws concerning the federal civil service; and amendments to the Act Relating to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2074.

The Cabinet also promoted Joint Secretary Aabha Shrestha Karn to the special-class post of chief secretary at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Gandaki Province. Dr. Jagadishwar Karmacharya was promoted to a special-class post in the Nepal Engineering Service and assigned as secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
