Sep 20, Kathmandu - Search and rescue efforts have been intensified following a devastating landslide in Gyirong County, located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of southwestern China, on August 26.

According to the latest reports, 43 people have been confirmed dead so far, with 519 individuals still missing. In the ongoing rescue operations, two survivors have been successfully rescued from the debris.

The affected area also includes 261 foreign nationals from 23 different countries, whose statuses remain unknown. In response to the disaster, the Chinese government has accelerated relief efforts, deploying specialized experts skilled in tunnel rescue, DNA testing teams, and emergency rescue equipment from Nepal.

Additionally, China has provided 320 tons of "Bailey bridge" components and other substantial relief materials to facilitate transportation and access to the impacted region. The search for the missing continues unabated as rescue teams work tirelessly to locate and save those affected.
