Weather Alert: Monsoon Influence Widespread Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Regions

Sep 17, Kathmandu - Nepal's Meteorological Forecasting Division has announced that the country is currently experiencing a temporary monsoon influence. The monsoon low-pressure line is situated south of its average position, affecting various regions across the country.

According to the forecast, generally cloudy weather is expected across Nepal this afternoon. The influence of the monsoon has brought clouds to Madhesh Province, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Partly cloudy conditions are observed in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, especially in the mountainous and hilly areas, while the Terai regions in Lumbini are relatively clear. Light to moderate rain is reported in some parts of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.

This evening, widespread cloud cover is expected nationwide. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in some mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few places in the Himalayan areas of Karnali Province. Patches of rain with thunderstorms are also likely in hill regions across the country.

Tonight, the weather will remain cloudy across Nepal. Some areas in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may experience moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is also forecasted in hill regions of these provinces.

The Meteorological Division has further indicated that some areas within the Terai plains of Madhes and Koshi provinces, as well as parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, could see moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
