Hotels in Kailali Now Allowed to Operate Until Midnight for 'Tiered' Establishments

Sep 14, Kathmandu - Hotels in Kailali can now operate until 12 midnight, extending the previous closing time of 10 PM. The new regulation applies exclusively to 'tiered' hotels registered according to the standards set by the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government.

Following discussions between the Kailali Hotel Business Association, District Administration Office, and District Police Office, it was decided to extend the operating hours by two hours for eligible hotels. Keshwar Raj Pandey, president of the Kailali Hotel Business Association, confirmed that an agreement was reached to allow these hotels to stay open until midnight after consultations with local authorities.

According to Pandey, approximately 100 'tiered' hotels in Kailali are registered under the standards prescribed by the provincial Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment. Only hotels meeting these standards will be permitted to operate until midnight under the new arrangement.

The extended hours are expected to provide relief to tourists and travelers arriving late in the district. However, for other hotels and businesses not classified as 'tiered,' the previous closing time of 10 PM remains unchanged.

District Administration Chief Hiralal Regmi emphasized the importance of responsibility and caution among hotel operators, citing potential security risks associated with late-night operations.
