Sep 08, Kathmandu - Rasuwa’s Bhote Koshi River flooded on Bhadra 10, leaving 44 individuals from Ramechhap still uncontactable, with their families yet to establish communication. 

Over 80 people from various flood-affected areas have been reported missing, according to the Ramechhap District Police Office, with 36 of them already reached out to authorities.

Among the missing is Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramhari Khadka of Manthali Municipality-4 Salu Kabilas, whose body was recovered in Chitwan. Khadka was working in Timure, Rasuwa, when the flood caused him to go missing.

To identify the remaining 44 individuals, police are collecting DNA samples from their close relatives. Inspector Kamal Raut of the Ramechhap Police Office stated that families of the missing are requested to appear in Manthali on Bhadra 26 to provide blood samples for DNA testing.

Relatives must bring their citizenship documents, documents establishing kinship with the missing person, and two photographs. Authorities will compare the DNA profiles with recovered bodies and body parts found after the flood to ensure accurate identification.

This process aims to facilitate precise identification and confirmation of bodies and body parts recovered from various locations, helping families find closure amid the tragedy.
