Sep 07, Kathmandu - The Nepal Social Welfare Council has called on social organizations and all involved parties to uphold the dignity, honor, and privacy of flood victims during rescue, relief, and humanitarian aid efforts following the Bhotekoshi River flood.

The Council stated that, as of Bhadra 10, rescue and relief activities are ongoing in districts such as Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading after the Bhotekoshi-Lhende river flood at the Nepal-China border on August 10. The flood has caused significant destruction, prompting extensive relief operations.

In a statement, the Council emphasized strict adherence to ethical guidelines during the distribution of relief materials and urged that photos and videos capturing victims' suffering should not be taken without their permission, to prevent further trauma.

Furthermore, the Council advised against publishing or broadcasting any personal photos, videos, or promotional materials—such as logos or symbols—without the consent of the victims, especially those of a religious or commercial nature.

The Council appealed to all social organizations to prioritize the respect, dignity, and confidentiality of flood-affected individuals while conducting humanitarian activities.
