Aug 03, Kathmandu - Nepal experienced a series of disasters between Baisakh 1 and Shrawan 17, with a total of 4,053 incidents reported nationwide, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. During this period, 196 lives were lost, over 1,200 people injured, and four individuals remain missing.

The most prevalent disaster was fire, with 1,024 incidents, followed by snakebites (716), lightning strikes (231), landslides (685), animal attacks (225), floods (200), storms (480), heavy rainfall (227), wildfires (191), boat capsizes, and explosions—each accounting for one incident. Additionally, four earthquakes and four avalanches were recorded, along with five other various events.

Affecting over 5,188 households, these disasters have caused significant damage across the country. The authority has urged citizens to exercise caution, especially during the monsoon season, due to increased risks of floods, landslides, and snakebites.

In the past 24 hours alone, 34 disaster incidents occurred across Nepal, resulting in one death and 20 injuries. Affected districts span 25 regions, with two roads blocked due to disasters. Estimated damages amount to approximately NPR 2.75 million. For rescue and relief efforts, 271 police personnel have been deployed.
