Jul 27, Kathmandu - Member of Parliament and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, representing Nuwakot-1, engaged in a comprehensive discussion with Santman Tamang, Chairperson of Tadi Rural Municipality, on various development initiatives in the region. The talks focused on overall development, education, health services, communication expansion, citizen service delivery, and disaster management in Tadi Rural Municipality.

During Monday’s meeting at the Ministry of Communication, Dr. Timilsina reviewed the current status of local development projects, challenges faced by local authorities, and residents’ concerns and expectations. He assured that the federal government would prioritize projects within its jurisdiction to address these needs.

Chairman Tamang emphasized the importance of developing Kharanitar as an administrative and service center for Tadi Municipality. He highlighted the necessity of establishing land registration and surveying offices at Kharanitar to facilitate citizen services. The need for constructing a hall for public gatherings, events, and local activities was also discussed.

Tamang requested improved infrastructure and additional human resources for Tadi Hospital to enhance healthcare access and quality. He proposed developing the hospital into a regional facility, including hiring a permanent Medical Superintendent, increasing healthcare staff, and establishing post-mortem and ambulance services.

The discussion also addressed rising road accidents in the upper regions like Tadi, Dupcheshwar, and Panchakanya, stressing the need for coordinated efforts across all government levels to improve road safety infrastructure and management. The expansion of Nepal Telecom’s network in Mudule Danda, Tadi-2, was also highlighted as essential for better communication, enabling easier access to information and digital services for remote communities.

Chairman Tamang asserted that the local government actively manages disaster-related issues such as floods and landslides, seeking necessary support from provincial and federal authorities. The ongoing need for continuous road and infrastructure development, including the construction of a regional sports ground at Amar Jyoti Higher Secondary School, was discussed. Though allocated last year, the project’s detailed design was prepared and submitted, with hopes of transforming Tadi into a hub for sports and community events.

Further, the expansion of irrigation facilities from Dorkhukhola Spring to Satiya, Bori, and Banchare areas was identified as critical, alongside prioritizing water supply and other basic infrastructure projects under special grants.

Minister Timilsina assured that efforts are underway to expedite the installation of Nepal Telecom towers and network expansion at Mudule Danda, Tadi-2. He highlighted that extending telecommunication services is vital for remote communities, facilitating communication and digital connectivity.

The Minister emphasized that all levels of government must work in coordination to manage seasonal floods, landslides, and disasters effectively. He urged local authorities to evaluate and facilitate immediate relief efforts, identify high-risk settlements, and assist with relocations.

“Citizens deserve facilities; no one should face inconvenience,” said Minister Timilsina. He called for regular updates from local governments on needs in water, roads, health, and communication sectors, and assured that the federal government would take initiatives to implement development plans within its jurisdiction.

Dr. Timilsina also noted that he has previously held discussions with local authorities and service providers across Nuwakot on district development and service delivery issues, including recent talks concerning Kakani Municipality’s challenges and electricity supply solutions.
