Jul 25, Kathmandu - Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality-5 Pulu Bazaar was struck by a devastating landslide early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a three-year-old boy and injuries to two others.
At around 4:00 AM on Shrawan 9, a massive landslide, carrying rocks and debris, swept down on the house of Pema Lama, where residents were sleeping. The house was occupied by 32-year-old Jagnath Baduwal, his wife Srijana Baduwal, and their three-year-old son Ramesh Baduwal, who were all inside at the time.
The slide buried the family, and a police team from Dolpu Pul Police Outpost rushed to the scene. They rescued the three-year-old Ramesh, who was immediately taken to Pulhu Health Post. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at 5:45 AM during treatment.
Jagnath and Srijana Baduwal sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Pulhu Health Post. Their condition is stable.
The landslide caused the house to be completely destroyed. Due to the risk of further damage, eight neighboring houses have been evacuated to safer locations as a precaution.
