Jul 24, Kathmandu - The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply held a high-level discussion. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Industry Minister Gauri Kumar Yadav to ensure effective execution of the budget for the current fiscal year 2083/84.
Minister Yadav outlined that eight key reforms related to the Industry Ministry are aligned with the scheduled timelines, with some initiatives already underway. She emphasized that these reforms, embedded in the budget, will be implemented in a phased manner, highlighting the importance of technical support and mutual coordination between the two ministries to ensure their success.
During the discussion, Minister Waglé urged the Industry Ministry to expedite policy and legal reforms, assuring that the Ministry of Finance is prepared to provide necessary expertise, resources, and technical assistance. The focus is on reforms including amendments to the Company Act, revisions to the Cooperatives Act, new laws on debt recovery, and intellectual property protection.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance has established a monitoring schedule to regularly review the progress of these reforms and ensure timely implementation through continuous collaboration with the concerned ministries.
