Jul 20, Kathmandu - Women who went mushroom foraging inside Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur have finally made contact with their families. According to Jaguram Tharu Chaudhary, President of Bhimdutta Municipality Ward 19, they re-established communication around 12:15 PM today.  

The women, who went missing while searching for mushrooms, lost their way in the forest, as explained by Tharu. To ensure their safety, a team led by the Chief District Officer also reached Bhimdutta Municipality’s Bagfanta area to assess their condition.

The women had entered the forest at around 11 AM on Sunday morning.

Parsa Gajnath Singh, the head of the Ranasingh Battalion responsible for security within the park, confirmed that the women contacted their families a few moments ago and are safe.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, three women from Baldadi Rural Municipality Ward 2, who had gone missing inside the park, were rescued by a team led by Suman Jisi, a co-soldier of the battalion. They were safely handed over to their families on Monday morning.

The search for the three women’s groups, who went into the park for illegal mushroom collection, involved the army, police, Armed Police Force, municipal police, and park authorities, who all participated in the rescue efforts.
