Protest in Maitighar Demands End to Caste Discrimination and Untouchability

Jul 18, Kathmandu - A rally organized by an anti-caste discrimination campaign was held in Kathmandu, calling for the permanent abolition of caste-based discrimination and untouchability.

The protesters emphasized that caste discrimination, which continues to plague society, must be eradicated once and for all, urging everyone to take the issue seriously. They highlighted incidents of landlords discriminating against tenants based on caste during house rentals.

Participants voiced concerns that despite the Dalit community's historic political movements that helped shape the nation, issues faced by marginalized groups are still being ignored. They criticized the current government and ruling parties, suggesting that even Dalit representatives within the parliament have failed to effectively address Dalit issues.

The protest underscored the need for genuine change and accountability to ensure equality and justice for all communities.
