Jul 17, Kathmandu - Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has refuted claims that Dipendra Shah was responsible for the Narayanhiti Palace massacre. Speaking at a party office event in Chyaasal on Friday, Oli asserted that Dipendra did not carry out the assassination of King Birendra Shah on Jestha 19, 2058 BS, which led to the royal family's near-annihilation.

"There's no truth to the widespread rumors claiming Dipendra committed the palace massacre and subsequently committed suicide, wiping out his entire family," Oli stated.

He further criticized the narrative linking Dipendra to the palace killings, describing it as a 'ready-made' story circulated globally. Oli emphasized that the actual perpetrators behind the palace massacre remain unidentified and that the truth has yet to be uncovered.
