Jul 17, Kathmandu - The process for government officials and public servants holding administrative positions to disclose their assets for the fiscal year 2082/83 has begun.
Under Section 50(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2059, it is legally required for all concerned personnel to submit their asset details within 60 days after the end of each fiscal year.
Employees of the federal civil service are to report their assets to the National Book Division, while provincial civil servants and local government employees must submit their disclosures to the respective Chief Minister and Council of Ministers' offices or provincial book divisions.
The National Book Division has already issued a public notice regarding this directive. Orientation sessions for relevant employees across all seven provinces have been completed via Zoom.
According to Shravan Kumar Pokhrel, Director General of the National Book Division, employees who fail to submit their asset details within the stipulated time will face a fine of Rs. 10,000. Moreover, such employees will have their retirement benefits, gratuities, accumulated leave amounts, and medical facilities suspended upon retirement.
In the previous fiscal year, 3,196 employees did not submit their asset disclosures on time. As a result of service benefits suspension, the division reports that in the last six months, 250 employees paid a total revenue of Rs. 3.75 million as fines.
This year, an estimated 71,508 employees are required to disclose their assets through the National Book Division alone. Including 19,626 provincial employees, a total of 91,134 government officials at federal, provincial, and local levels are expected to submit their asset details.
Considering the two-day public holiday and the legal requirement to complete submissions within 60 days, the National Book Division will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting August 17 (Shrawan 1) for the next 60 days to facilitate the process.
