Maulana's Objection to Aamir Khan's marriage

Jul 16, Kathmandu - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has recently come under fire on social media following reports of his third marriage to a Hindu woman, sparking widespread controversy. Aamir tied the knot with his girlfriend Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony on July 5.

Critics and hardliners have accused the actor of repeatedly marrying women from Hindu and Christian backgrounds. Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, both from Hindu communities. His current wife, Gauri, is also Hindu.

Adding fuel to the controversy, Maulana Ifrakhim Hussain, the chief Mufti of Darul Ifta, has publicly criticized Aamir's consistent marriages to Hindu women, issuing a fatwa against him. Until now, Aamir had remained silent on the matter, but he finally addressed the allegations surrounding "Love Jihad" after his comments surfaced.

In an open discussion about his marriages and family, Aamir clarified that his family is highly liberal and diverse. He emphasized that his two Muslim sisters are married into Hindu families, and his daughter is also married to a Hindu youth. He also mentioned that his maternal uncle's son, Mansur, married a Christian woman.

Following his statements, religious leaders and organizations have voiced their disapproval. Recently, the Bajrang Dal burned an effigy of Aamir Khan in protest of his marriage. Moreover, Jagadguru Paramahansa Acharya has announced a reward of 50 million rupees for anyone who can harm Aamir.

The actor's comments and the subsequent reactions highlight the ongoing religious and social tensions surrounding marriage practices in India.
