Jul 16, Kathmandu - In a shocking turn of events at the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinals, English star Jude Bellingham found himself embroiled in a heated controversy following England’s dramatic exit.
After Argentina secured a 2-1 victory and advanced to the final, Bellingham, a midfielder for Real Madrid, reportedly slapped Argentine defender Valentín Barco on the back of the head in a moment of frustration.
According to BBC Radio’s Pal Robinson, Barco had celebrated joyfully outside the field after scoring the winning goal by running past England's bench and teasing them. In response, Bellingham reportedly swung his hand at Barco, an act Robinson described as “the worst example of World Cup emotions.”
The incident led to a scuffle on the pitch, with players from both sides pushing and shoving. England’s Morgan Rogers had to be pulled away by teammates to prevent further chaos.
Despite the controversy, Bellingham had an outstanding tournament for England, scoring six goals and establishing himself as one of the team’s most influential players. However, he struggled against Argentina, and a recent altercation with Argentina captain Lionel Messi has gone viral on social media.
England will now face France on Saturday in Miami for third place, while Argentina prepares to face Spain in a historic final on Sunday.
