England Advances to World Cup Quarterfinals with Thrilling Victory Over Mexico

Jul 06, Kathmandu - England has secured its place in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals following a dramatic 3-2 win against Mexico. The match took place at Mexico City’s stadium, marking Mexico’s first defeat in the tournament.

Historically, Mexico had won eight matches and drawn two in previous encounters at this stadium, but England broke that record with a stunning victory.

For England, Jude Bellingham scored two goals, while Harry Kane added one. Bellingham scored both his goals within just 99 seconds, first converting a pass from Bukayo Saka in the 36th minute, then doubling the lead in the 38th minute with an assist from Harry Kane.

Mexico responded in the 54th minute with a goal from Julian Quinones. However, the match took a turn when, in the same minute, referee awarded England a penalty after goalkeeper Rául Rangel fouled Anthony Gordon. Harry Kane confidently scored from the spot in the 59th minute, bringing his tally to six goals in the tournament.

In the 67th minute, Kane fouled Mexico’s goalkeeper, leading to a penalty awarded to Mexico. Rául Jiménez scored from the spot, narrowing the gap to 3-2.

With this victory, England will face Norway in the quarterfinals. Norway advanced by defeating five-time world champion Brazil, securing their spot in the knockout stage.
