Jul 02, Kathmandu - Russian troops carried out a significant assault on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, Wednesday night, involving drone and missile strikes that resulted in at least 10 deaths, according to BBC reports.
Authorities confirmed that numerous individuals were wounded in the attack, which compelled the evacuation of many parts of the city. The explosions shook several buildings across Kyiv, causing widespread damage and panic.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned just hours before the attack that Russia was preparing for a large-scale offensive. The recent strike has intensified fears of escalating hostilities.
Tymur Takachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, reported that children were among those killed in the Russian attack. He criticized the assault, stating, “The enemy is deliberately targeting residential areas to kill civilians once again.”
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that the attack was a response to recent Ukrainian strikes, asserting that energy facilities were targeted to retaliate against Ukraine’s actions.
