German Embassy Clarifies Stance on Nepali Passport Sale Reports

Jul 01, Kathmandu - The German Embassy in Nepal has issued a clarification regarding recent reports related to the sale of Nepali passports.

In a statement shared on social media platform Facebook today, the embassy clarified that the acting Nepali chargé d'affaires in Germany was invited to a meeting at the Federal Foreign Ministry but was not formally summoned.

The embassy also emphasized that no protest letters or any other documents have been submitted or handed over. Furthermore, they stated that no warnings or indications of potential outcomes have been communicated based on the ongoing legal proceedings.

"Germany fully respects the independence of the judiciary. In fact, this principle is enshrined in our constitution. The embassy does not comment on ongoing court cases, and at no stage has it made any remarks regarding this matter," the embassy clarified.
