Jun 23, Kathmandu - The postponed convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), initially scheduled for Monday, is set to resume today at 2:00 PM, under the leadership of President Rabi Lamichhane. The session will focus on presenting reports, discussing amendments, and forming new organizational structures.
According to the official agenda, various committees and office bearers will deliver their reports throughout the day. At 2:10 PM, Ramakanta Rimal from the Discipline Committee will present its report, followed by Treasurer Lima Adhikari at 2:30 PM, who will submit the party’s financial report.
At 3:00 PM, General Secretary Kabintra Burlakoti will present the organizational report, after which delegates will engage in detailed discussions. The afternoon session continues with a proposal for constitutional amendments at 3:45 PM, submitted by Deputy Secretary Bipin Acharya, which will be approved during this session.
Following the amendments, Deputy Chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present an important ideological and political preamble at 4:45 PM, seen as a guiding principle for the party. At 5:15 PM, Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is scheduled to deliver his political report.
In the final segment of today’s session, at 6:35 PM, Lamichhane is expected to announce the formation of an interim management committee. The organizing committee will hand over all responsibilities related to the election process to the Election Commission, which will then announce the schedule and procedures for selecting new leadership.
The convention and election programs were previously postponed due to delays in finalizing delegate lists and distributing identification cards. Currently, over 4,300 delegates have been registered, with provisional ID cards being issued—these will not include QR codes due to technical issues with the earlier printed cards.
According to the party’s Organization Department Chief, Badhan Narayan Shrestha, the new temporary IDs will be distributed at the 2:00 PM session, which will facilitate the election process with QR codes.
Meanwhile, the finalization of delegate lists is ongoing, with some names still under dispute. Some delegates who appeared on the list Monday are now excluded, and issues such as duplicate membership numbers are being rectified. Delegates are encouraged to file complaints regarding any discrepancies.
The party continues to work on correcting errors in the delegate list, ensuring a smooth conduction of the upcoming election.
