Jun 19, Kathmandu - The government has made several significant decisions, including extending the tenure of the committee preparing the draft for constitutional amendments and implementing a high-level commission’s report on government land investigation.
During a press conference on Friday, government spokesperson and Minister of Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, announced the decisions made by the Cabinet.
The Cabinet decided to prolong the deadline for the "Constitution Amendment Drafting Committee, 2082" until the end of Asadha, 2083.
Additionally, the government has approved the implementation of the report by the "High-Level Committee on Government and Public Land Investigation and Conservation (Rawal Committee, 2052)," established to prevent misuse and protect government and public land. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration has been instructed to take immediate steps for implementation.
The Cabinet also appointed Ramse Kumar Dhital from Sindhupalchowk as the Chairman of the Writing Board.
Furthermore, the government approved a memorandum of understanding for advance customs clearance of goods among South Asian countries involved in South Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC). The Director General of the Customs Department was authorized to sign on Nepal's behalf.
The Cabinet approved an extension of the deadline for compensation land exchange for the forest area used by the Middle Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project to the government.
In a military-related decision, the Cabinet approved the promotion of one Brigadier General to Major General in the Nepalese Army. Additionally, a senior officer was granted honorary promotion to Brigadier General, and another to Major General before retirement, announced Minister Pokharel.
