Jun 13, Kathmandu - Celebrity chef Santosh Shah has been arrested.
Shah was arrested on Friday by a team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
According to the office's SSP Santosh Khadka, he was arrested from Ramananda Chowk, Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City-8, Dhanusha.
Santosh is from Karjanha Municipality-11, Siraha.
Sakuntala Thapa, who is from Chitwan and has been living in Kathmandu, had filed a complaint against Shah for fraud.
Sakuntala had sold her restaurant to Shah two years ago. At that time, Sakuntala says that she sold her restaurant in Gairidhara for 22 million rupees.
She says that even though Santosh gave her some money at that time, she left more than 15 million rupees behind.
According to Sakuntala, Shah had given her a check a year ago. “But there was no money in that account. They repeatedly said that the money was being deposited, but it didn’t happen,” she said. “Then I went to the police.”
She also says that they didn’t know each other before the restaurant was bought and sold.
“I tried a lot in these two years. I heard that the police have now arrested them according to the procedure,” she said.
