Jun 09, Kathmandu - The consumer price index in Nepal has risen to over five percent. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, annual core inflation reached 5.04 percent in the month of Baisakh. The rate was 2.77 percent in the same period last year.
With the increase in the prices of fruits, ghee and oil, vegetables and meat products, inflation in the food and beverage group has reached 4.63 percent. Inflation in the non-food and services group is 5.26 percent.
Province-wise, Koshi province has the highest inflation rate of 5.64 percent. The inflation in the Himalayan region is comparatively low, according to the Rastra Bank.
