May 31, Kathmandu - The tradition of honoring the newly elected leadership of the Nepal Film Artists Association continues as the Nepal Film Society organized a special recognition and goodwill event at Thumki Resort in Panauti, Kavrepalanchowk.
Under the chairmanship of Krishna Mall, President of the Nepal Film Society, the program honored newly elected officials and members of the Nepal Film Artists Association. Attendees included President of the association, Uttam K.C., Vice Presidents Shiva Hari Nepal Varagi and Pooja Gurung Pradhan, General Secretary Sunil Katuwal, Secretary Gopal Dhakal, Treasurer Tejula Khatiwada, Assistant Treasurer Pawan K.C., and other members.
Honored guests comprised Indra Doda Khambey, Chandrakala Rai, Lavli Sangam, Shridev Bhattarai, Monika Dahal, Chandra Kumari, Daman Rupa Khati, Naveen Shrestha, Suleman Sankar Eku, Chhultim Gurung, Rashmi Bhatta, among others. Speakers expressed confidence that the newly formed committee would play a vital role in the professional development of Nepali cinema, safeguarding artists' rights, and advancing the overall industry.
The event was graced by Madhu Kumar Shrestha, a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly and former minister, who emphasized that artists are custodians of the nation's cultural identity. He called for more effective policies and support from the government to foster industry growth.
Special guests included Dinesh DC, Chairperson of the Nepal Film Development Board; Ramsharan Bhandari, Mayor of Panauti Municipality; Bhandar of the Artists' Union; the outgoing President Mohan Niraula; and Founder President Ravindra Khadka, among others.
Panati Municipality also honored the newly elected officials, recognizing their contributions to the arts and emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the local government and the film industry. The event saw notable participation from personalities in the cultural sector, with Ghanashyam Khatiwada hosting the program.
Meanwhile, local governments continue to extend recognition to the new leadership. Artists expressed hope that the fresh leadership would positively influence the institutional development, professional security, and creative progress of the Nepali film industry.
