May 28, Kathmandu - The Government of India has finalized contracts for the construction of 14 schools across eight districts in Nepal, funded through grant assistance. The agreements were signed in a ceremony attended by representatives from the Indian Embassy, including the Development Partnerships and Reconstruction Division, officials from the Central Project Implementation Unit (CPIU), and contractor companies.

The Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Education and Sports has entered into contracts with various construction firms to build schools in Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolkha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchok districts.

According to the Indian Embassy, these schools are part of the post-earthquake reconstruction aid program, funded with a grant of NPR 562 million. The school buildings will be constructed in accordance with Nepal’s earthquake-resistant standards, featuring classrooms with furniture and separate toilets for boys and girls.
This initiative follows previous aid efforts, where the Indian government, with support from Nepal, constructed and handed over 70 schools and the Central Library of Tribhuvan University in eight districts.
