May 26, Kathmandu - A bus accident occurred on the Toliha–Bahadurganj postal road in Maharajgunj Municipality-4, Baripur, Kapilvastu, resulting in 38 people injured.
The Kathmandu-bound bus, with license plate number 02-001-KH 1266, traveling towards Surkhet, lost control and overturned on the road, according to police reports.
Rescue operations swiftly transported the injured to the district hospital in Toliha for treatment. Among the injured, 35 individuals were referred to various hospitals in Bhairahawa for further care.
Police stated that two of the injured are in critical condition, while 19 have moderate injuries and 17 suffered minor injuries.
The most seriously injured include 45-year-old Pavittra Devkota from Bardiya and 30-year-old Prakash Vick from Surkhet.
The bus driver, 30-year-old Dille Prasad Dahal of Surkhet, along with co-driver Rajan Budas, and most passengers sustained injuries to various parts of their bodies.
Victims of the accident hail from districts including Surkhet, Dailkeh, Kalikot, Jumla, Banke, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Okhaldhunga.
While 12 injured passengers were rescued by their own vehicles, others were taken to hospitals via ambulances.
Remaining passengers who were unharmed have been sent to their respective destinations.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
