NC Announces No Recognition for Old Memberships in 15th Convention; Fresh Memberships to Be Verified

May 25, Kathmandu - The Nepali Congress has decided not to recognize old memberships during its upcoming 15th General Convention. Instead, the party will include old members in the renewal process through a verification procedure.

According to a press release issued by Acting General Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal on Monday, the party’s Membership Verification Committee will scrutinize active memberships granted during the 14th Convention. Only those verified as active will be considered legitimate for the upcoming convention, and the renewal process will be carried out accordingly.

The party also plans to dispatch central representatives to resolve membership issues concerning individuals who joined the Congress from other parties. Representatives will be sent to 13 districts across the country, including:

  • Dr. Gopal Dahit in Bara
  • Ang Gelu Sherpa in Siraha
  • Abdul Sattar in Dhanusha
  • Rajiv Dhuangana in Saptari
  • Kusum Thapa in Solukhumbu
  • Dev Prasad Timilsina in Sarlahi
  • Tilak Rana Bhat in Surkhet
  • Pramod Hari Guragai in Mahottari
  • Tekraj Poudel in Kapilvastu
  • Jagdishan Singh KC in Sunsari
  • Kamal Kishore Ghimire in Rautahat
  • Krishna Rijal in Parsa
  • Ishwor Adhikari in Kathmandu

Furthermore, the committee has approved updates for active memberships of the Party’s Public Relations Committees from seven countries, which have already held their conventions.

For the 15 countries where no such issues have been reported, the committee has agreed to update memberships and submit a schedule for the convention to the central office.

Additionally, the Central Membership Management Committee has appointed Pramod Vishwakarma, the Deputy Secretary at the central office, as the Secretary of the Committee.
