Cooperative Leaders Arrested for Embezzlement of Rs. 9.2 Million

May 25, Kathmandu - Police have arrested the President and Treasurer of Rudrabhinayak Cooperative Society in Kalimati, Kathmandu, on Monday.

The suspects include 40-year-old Chairperson Shila Shrestha and 35-year-old Treasurer Khil Maya Rijal. They are accused of misappropriating and embezzling Rs. 9.2 million from the cooperative.

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Bhattarai of Kathmandu District Police Office, the arrests were made based on complaints filed by victims. The two individuals are currently in police custody, and further legal investigation is underway.

Authorities are also conducting an extensive inquiry into the safety of the savings deposited by cooperative members. Police have assured that appropriate action will be taken to recover the stolen funds and ensure justice for the victims.
