President Ram Chandra Poudel Highlights the Need to Transfer Senior Citizens’ Wisdom and Skills to the New Generation

May 09, Kathmandu - President Ram Chandra Poudel emphasized the importance of passing down the knowledge, experience, and skills of senior citizens to the younger generation during a two-day 'International Senior Citizens Conference' organized by the Manmohan Memorial Foundation.

Addressing the conference, President Poudel paid tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari, recalling his significant contributions. He lauded the foundation named after Adhikari for organizing discussions on how society's senior citizens' wisdom and skills can be effectively transferred to the youth.

“The foundation established in honor of the late Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari has taken a positive step by organizing discussions on how to pass on the knowledge and skills of our senior citizens to the next generation,” President Paudel remarked.

He described Manmohan Adhikari as a humble, simple, and modest leader, recognized as the first elected leftist Prime Minister in South Asia. Poudel also highlighted Adhikari’s contributions alongside the ideological pioneers of Nepal’s democratic movement, including BP Koirala, emphasizing their notable roles in Nepal’s independence struggle and beyond.

“Manmohan Adhikari was an extremely modest individual. As the first elected leftist Prime Minister in South Asia, he was known for his simplicity and humility. Alongside BP Koirala and other leaders, Adhikari played a significant role in Nepal’s democratic movement as well as in India’s independence movement. Many of these leaders, including Adhikari, are respected not only in Nepal but also internationally,” he added.

The President expressed the belief that leaders like Manmohan Adhikari are honored both within Nepal and abroad, highlighting their enduring legacy.
