May 07, Kathmandu - The Nepali government is preparing to dismiss the chairpersons, executive directors, and members appointed to various hospital development committees nationwide. According to sources, amendments to the order establishing hospital development committees are underway to revoke the appointments of current office bearers.
An official from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office confirmed that the government is taking steps to dissolve the existing appointments made under the Hospital Development Committee Act, 2013, as per the orders issued by the Council of Ministers.
Under this plan, all chairs, executive directors, and members appointed under the establishment orders of hospital development committees — including those of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Nizamatri Staff Hospital, and Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital — will be relieved of their positions.
The government has also advanced legal preparations to restructure the composition, appointment procedures, and administrative systems of hospital development committees. It is estimated that over 500 appointments across the country will be canceled as part of this reform.
Previously, the government had also dismissed officials from universities and health science institutes through ordinances, indicating a broader move toward administrative restructuring in the healthcare and academic sectors.
