Apr 28, Kathmandu - Ilam Municipality Ward Office 8 has launched a new initiative to provide healthcare services directly at the homes of senior citizens, bringing joy to the elderly residents.
Despite being close to Ilam Bazaar, many senior and disabled citizens are unable to travel for medical check-ups. In response, the ward office has organized an essential health check-up campaign focusing on diabetes, hypertension, and ear health.
The week-long health screening revealed that many seniors suffer from high blood pressure and ear problems, with some displaying signs of respiratory issues, according to healthcare worker Basanta Subedi. Some seniors were referred to Ilam Hospital for further treatment.
In addition to check-ups, medicines and nutritional supplements have been provided for up to one month. The health screening covered ten localities within the ward, reaching a total of 160 residents. Ward Chairperson Dalmana Tamang stated that the ward conducts home visits and health check-ups for senior citizens twice a year to ensure their well-being.
