Lightning Strikes During Continuous Rainfall Kills One and Injures Another in Syangja

Apr 25, Kathmandu - Due to a lightning strike amidst ongoing heavy rains, one person has died and another has been injured in Syangja District. On Friday evening at around 7 PM, lightning struck a poultry farm, causing extensive damage.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prashanraj Chaudhary, 20-year-old Milan BK from Biruwa Rural Municipality-2 Shridanda was killed by a lightning strike in his home. Similarly, 58-year-old Khimbahadur Thapa from Harinas Rural Municipality-4, Saruthar, was injured. The lightning also caused significant damage to a poultry farm located at the same site.

BK was reportedly struck by lightning while indoors and succumbed during treatment at the Province Hospital in Puttlibazar, Syangja, on Saturday morning. Thapa, who was injured in the incident, received treatment at Seti Ganga Hospital in Tanahun and has since been discharged. He was approximately 300 meters away from the poultry farm at the time of the strike.

At another poultry farm owned by Tej Bahadur Thapa in Saruthar, lightning killed around 550 chickens, both young and mature, resulting in complete damage to the farm, as confirmed by police official Chaudhary.
