Nepal and Slovenia Explore Bilateral Trade and Investment Opportunities to Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Apr 20, Kathmandu - Nepal and Slovenia discussed expanding their bilateral trade and investment prospects to further enhance economic cooperation. The meeting took place at the Nepal Chamber of Commerce Secretariat between Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Slovenia’s Resident Ambassador Tomaz Mencin.

During the discussion, Senior Vice President Shrestha highlighted recent policy reforms aimed at attracting foreign investment in Nepal. He expressed optimism over political stability following the formation of a majority government, which is expected to create a favorable environment for investment.

"Nepal has implemented numerous policy reforms to encourage foreign investment. The current political stability has further boosted investor confidence," said Shrestha. He emphasized that the Chamber is fully prepared to strengthen relations through business-to-business collaborations, trade missions, and joint platforms.

Ambassador Mencin underscored the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries and emphasized transforming them into fruitful economic partnerships. He noted that Slovenia views Nepal as a reliable economic partner and highlighted opportunities beyond tourism, including technology transfer, innovation, and joint investments.

The Slovenian envoy also committed to supporting Nepal’s development through technology exchange and sharing expertise. The meeting was attended by Nepal’s Honorary Consul for Slovenia, Haribhakta Sharm.

Nepal and Slovenia established diplomatic relations in 1997. Following this discussion, it is expected that relations between the private sectors of both countries will deepen, leading to increased trade and economic activities.
