Apr 20, Kathmandu - Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has called on the government to immediately clarify the partnership between Home Minister Sudan Gurung and businessman Deepak Bhatt, who is currently under investigation for money laundering.
The controversy arose as details surfaced about Bhatt’s association with Star Micro Insurance Company, in which Minister Gurung allegedly holds shares in his own name. Lingden emphasized the need for transparency from the government and the leadership of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Speaking at a program organized by his party in Kathmandu on Monday, Lingden criticized the government’s handling of the situation. “The government must clarify its stance on the matter involving the Home Minister. The Home Minister needs to clarify his position, and the party leadership must also make a clear statement,” he demanded.
Lingden also condemned the government’s approach to unauthorized road-side structures, accusing it of spreading state terror by demolishing illegally constructed homes.
“Country cannot run on stunt politics,” he warned. “I recently watched on media and social networks about the licenses not being renewed but still being kept. Such stunts will not help run the country.”
