Apr 19, Kathmandu - The official website of the Medical Education Commission is under scrutiny amid suspicions of irregular activities related to information management. It has been revealed that the commission delayed publishing its decisions on time and uploaded them all at once later, raising questions about transparency.
According to sources, the commission’s information system initially displayed data only from Magh 20 and 23, 2082 Nepali calendar (corresponding to February 3 and 6, 2026). Subsequently, a notice dated Magh 21, 2082 (February 4, 2026) was added. However, detailed examination of the file shows the actual upload date as March 20, 2026, indicating possible manipulation of the posting dates.
This discrepancy has led to suspicions that outdated information was deliberately kept on the website with recent dates to mislead viewers. Such activities threaten the credibility and transparency of the public body, raising serious concerns among stakeholders.
Past instances also hint at potential misuse of the commission’s information system, with allegations of irregularities in conducting exams, result publication, application processes, counseling, and admissions. This is a matter of grave concern, especially given the importance of the future of thousands of students.
Observations suggest that such activities are unlikely to be carried out by only one or two individuals but could be part of an organized effort. Therefore, a comprehensive investigation into the roles of the commission's officials has been demanded.
In this context, the roles of Vice-Chairman Prof. Dr. Anjani Jha, officials of the Foreign Study Permit Management Committee, Joint Secretary Rudar Regmi, and other related officers are also underscored as needing scrutiny.
Furthermore, calls have been made to include the Examination and Information Technology branches in the investigation and to take necessary legal actions following due process. A complaint has been lodged with the Prime Minister’s Office, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, and the National Vigilance Centre.
Students, whose futures depend heavily on the integrity of the commission, have expressed frustration over the apparent negligence and alleged manipulation, criticizing the lack of serious attention from relevant authorities.
