Nepal Medical Council Seeks Clarification from TikTok Doctor Over Viral Social Media Content

Apr 18, Kathmandu - The Nepal Medical Council has issued a notice to Dr. Sudhir Prasad Shah, demanding an explanation regarding a video that went viral on TikTok. The council sent a formal letter to the doctor, initiating an investigation into the content he uploaded.

According to the council, an initial review of the material posted on TikTok between April 2025 and April 2026 suggests violations of the "Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, 2017." Specifically, concerns have been raised regarding breaches of professional decorum, social media conduct guidelines, and medical ethics.

The council has instructed Dr. Shah to submit a written explanation within seven days of receiving the letter. Failure to respond within the stipulated time frame may result in legal action as per applicable laws.

Dr. Sah is currently associated with Siddhartha Nagar City Hospital in Bhairahawa. His active presence and videos on social media had garnered widespread attention and public interest.

The Medical Council has repeatedly emphasized the importance of maintaining professional decorum while using social media, urging doctors to exercise caution and responsibility.
