Four Arrested from Rupandehi with Fake Currency Notes

Apr 16, Kathmandu - A team deployed from the District Police Office has arrested four individuals involved in the illegal circulation of counterfeit Nepali currency.  

According to police sources, those apprehended include 36-year-old Vishnu Shrestha of Vaanagangaa Municipality-2 in Kapilvastu, 28-year-old Sujan Kandel (also known as Mukti Prasad Kandel) of Devchuli Municipality-15 in Nawalparasi (East), 35-year-old Rolbahadur Shrestha of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-8 in Sindhupalchok, and 53-year-old Deependra Thapa of Buddhanilkantha Municipality-9 in Kathmandu.  

Information Officer and Deputy Inspector Krishna Kumar Chand of the District Police stated that police received specific intelligence about illegal currency transactions taking place across various locations in the district.  

Based on this intelligence, during monitoring operations conducted by police teams from the District Police Office and subordinate offices, four individuals were arrested on Chait 22 and Chait 26 (Nepali calendar dates). They were caught with a total of 21 counterfeit Nepali notes, each with a denomination of Rs. 1,000, from Siddharthnagar Municipality-5 (Bairahawa) and Sanamaina Municipality-10.  

The authorities have publicly identified the arrested individuals, and further investigations are ongoing into the case.
