Apr 16, Kathmandu - To enhance eye health services, medical education, and research, Tilganga Eye Institute and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) have entered into a collaborative agreement.
The agreement, signed on Wednesday, aims to institutionalize academic exchange, joint research, and service delivery between the two institutions. Under this partnership, Tilganga's faculty members will regularly provide specialized eye care services, including outpatient and surgical procedures, at BPKIHS.
The collaboration also includes conducting regular academic classes for faculty and resident doctors, as well as training programs in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening, laser treatment, and other subspecialty surgeries. Additionally, both institutes will prioritize joint research in clinical and community eye health, establishing the center as a hub for collaborative research projects.
The agreement also opens opportunities for BPKIHS resident doctors to undertake clinical postings at various subspecialty clinics in Tilganga. Moreover, the partnership emphasizes capacity building for faculty members.
Dr. Sanduk Ruit, Executive Director of Tilganga Eye Institute, and Dr. Bikram Prasad Shrestha, Vice-Chancellor of BPKIHS, signed the agreement, marking a new chapter in advancing eye care and medical education in the region.
