Apr 14, Kathmandu - Pokhara's lakeside area is experiencing a tourist influx, with hotel occupancy rates exceeding 90% due to visitors coming to celebrate the Nepali New Year.
Laxman Subedi, President of the Pokhara Hotel Association, confirmed that hotels are fully booked as tourists from various parts of the country flock to the city for the festivities.
The celebration is further amplified by the 21st edition of the Fewa New Year Festival organized by the association, which has significantly boosted tourist arrivals. Known for its natural beauty, rich culture, and adventure tourism, Pokhara's popularity continues to grow. Its recognition as Nepal's tourism capital and ongoing promotional efforts have contributed to increasing visitor numbers.
Currently, Pokhara has around 1,200 hotels, with a capacity to accommodate up to 40,000 tourists daily, according to hotel industry officials.
