Apr 07, Kathmandu - Youth and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokhrel has committed to advancing the ‘Fapla International Cricket Stadium’ in Sudurpaschim Province as a project of national pride and special priority.
During an on-site inspection in Fapla area on Tuesday, Minister Pokhrel reviewed the progress of the project and emphasized its importance, promising to give it top priority. The inspection team included Members of Parliament Anand Chandra, KP Khatel, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Bhupdev Shah.
The minister confirmed that all technical procedures, including land acquisition, Detailed Project Report (DPR), and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), have been successfully completed. He further stated that since the project is now included in the National Project Bank, the government will focus on allocating budget and ensuring swift implementation.
Minister Pokhrel expressed confidence that the Fapla project will serve not only as a sports infrastructure but also as a “game-changer” for tourism in Sudurpaschim and contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
Subash Shahi, President of the Fapla International Cricket Ground and sports Village Infrastructure Construction Development Committee, credited the visit of the minister and the high-level team with injecting new energy into the project.
He added that after long legal and technical preparations, the project has now entered the construction phase. “With the commitment from the minister, we are fully confident that this project will soon take a tangible form,” Shahi said.
