Apr 06, Kathmandu - Sundi Secondary School in Rupandehi has started a unique practice of awarding buffaloes to outstanding students, instead of medals or cash.
This has not only improved the students' education but also helped in the family's income. Since the income from buffaloes helps in the education of students, their enthusiasm and responsibility towards studies have increased. The school has stated that the dropout rate due to financial constraints has decreased.
Buffaloes are given to the best teams in the book review competition. So far, 51 buffalo have been distributed with the help of Um Hong-gil of South Korea. This program has become an inspiring example in rural education.
