FIFA and AFC warn ANFA

Apr 05, Kathmandu - The world's top football governing body, FIFA, along with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), has issued a warning to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), demanding that an early election be conducted within seven days.

In their letter, FIFA and AFC emphasized that member associations have the right to operate independently without third-party interference. They expressed serious concern over Nepal's suspension from FIFA and the postponement of ANFA elections.

The letter states, "Nepal's decision has not only abruptly halted the electoral process but has also compelled ANFA to amend its statutes. This constitutes interference by a third party. If not resolved in a timely manner, serious consequences may follow."

It further mentions that if elections are not held within the seven-day deadline, the issue will be referred to the FIFA Council, and an immediate suspension process will be initiated.

In the event of suspension, ANFA would be barred from participating in international competitions, lose access to development funds from FIFA and AFC, and be restricted from maintaining sports relations with other nations.
