Young Athletes Urged to Engage in Sports from School to Village Level, Says Sports Minister

Mar 31, Kathmandu - Youth and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel has stressed the importance of attracting young people to sports, emphasizing the need to incorporate them from schools, local clubs, and village levels. Speaking at an event organized to honor him by the National Sports Council, Minister Pokharel highlighted that sports are a means to enhance the nation's reputation through producing talented athletes.

He urged sports organizations, including the council, to work actively rather than just speak about challenges and opportunities in the sports sector. "We must show results through action," he said.

Member of Parliament Achyutam Lamichhane of the Nepal Communist Party also emphasized the need to make the Nepal Sports Science Institute more effective.

Secretary of the Council Ramcharitra Mehta provided insights into the structure, areas of work, budget, and infrastructure related to the council's activities.

Earlier, Minister Pokharel inspected ongoing projects at the Genesis Park and Sports Science Research Center at the International Sports Complex in Saptadoot.
