Health Insurance Board Warns of Action if Insured is Harassed

Mar 30, Kathmandu - The Health Insurance Board has issued a stern warning to healthcare providers to immediately cease any discriminatory practices and delays in service delivery to insured citizens. The board emphasized that failure to comply will result in strict legal action.

Recently, there have been increasing complaints about certain healthcare facilities delaying or denying services to insured individuals, exhibiting discriminatory behavior. In response, the board has directed all service providers to halt such practices immediately.

In an official notice issued by Executive Director Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, it was stated, "Such activities are against the provisions of the Health Insurance Act, 2074, and the Health Insurance Regulations, 2075. Any healthcare facility found violating these rules during monitoring will face severe legal action under Section 12, Subsection 1, Clause (kha) of the Health Insurance Act, 2074."

The board has urged all healthcare providers to respect the rights of insured citizens and adhere strictly to the laws and regulations.
