Mar 24, Kathmandu - Nepal is set to host the third SAARC-level conference on tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS, organized by the SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre. The center announced that the conference aims to address ongoing challenges in controlling these diseases and to promote regional cooperation.
Dr. Anuj Bhattachan, Director of the center, emphasized that the conference is scheduled to be held in Nepal this year, continuing the tradition of previous successful gatherings. He expressed his commitment to tackling the hurdles faced in TB and HIV/AIDS control and called on experts from the region to contribute to the cause.
On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, Bhattachan spoke at a program held in Bhaktapur and urged regional specialists to collaborate for the conference's success. "All those working in TB and HIV sectors have been brought together in the past two SAARC TB and HIV conferences. We are organizing the third this year to further strengthen our efforts," he stated.
Highlighting the rising number of TB cases in Nepal, Bhattachan stressed the importance of mobilizing local governments to effectively control the disease. He also pointed out that for successful TB control, active participation from all three tiers of government is essential.
