Mar 23, Kathmandu - Gandaki Provincial Assembly held a theoretical discussion on Monday regarding the proposed amendments to the Gandaki Province Road Act 2081. The bill, introduced on Sunday, aims to revise regulations related to provincial and local roads, reflecting the public’s needs and infrastructural demands.
During the session, Assembly members expressed their views on the necessity and rationale behind the proposed amendments.Assembly member Ashok Kumar Shrestha highlighted that the government has introduced the bill to address public demands and the need to revise the road boundaries concerning provincial and local roads.Member Sudhir Kumar Poudel emphasized that amendments are necessary to resolve implementation challenges faced under the current law.Resham Bahadur Jugjali stated that any law should be amended based on necessity and practicality.Another member, Bindu Poudel, stressed that amending the law is crucial to streamline the entire transportation system within the province.
Responding to questions raised during the discussion, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transportation, Prakash Bahadur K.C., explained that the amendments are aimed at protecting citizens’ property rights and ensuring housing security. He added that existing structures would remain intact, while new structures would be built following the revised road boundaries.
Before the discussion, Minister K.C. had submitted a proposal to consider the bill.During the special segment of the meeting, assembly members Dorkh Kumar Khuwa, Lil Bahadur Thapa, Sushila Simkhada, Kalpana Tiwari, Ganesh Man Gurung, Dillirama Subedi, and Beda Bahadur Gurung shared their views on current issues.In the concluding segment, members Kusum Buda, Yashoda Rimal, and Bhakta Bahadur Kuwar spoke on various contemporary topics.
The Gandaki Provincial Assembly will reconvene for its next session on Tuesday at 11 a.m., according to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.
